Einstein Center History

In 1978 the Jewish community of Sacramento acquired a former school site at the corner of Wyda Way and Wright Street in the Arden-Arcade area, near the heart of the growing suburban Sacramento Jewish community. At that property, the Federation and Shalom School once had their facilities. Eventually, all that was left was Einstein.

Once acquired, the Einstein board obtained a grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to transform the site into a new residential facility for the elderly in the community.
The initial articles of incorporation declared that the Einstein organization would support seniors and the disabled. The Albert Einstein Residence Center was constructed and opened in November 1981.

Today, the Albert Einstein Residence Center provides subsidized housing to seniors and the disabled of all faiths.
